The Yacht Group has just launched their new Yacht Protector wireless boat monitoring system. At first glance it appears to be easier to install than competing systems. As a bit of background, The Yacht Group sell a variety of well regarded marine products including the Yacht Thruster and Yacht Connect 4G/WiFi antenna. The Yacht Protector system can be installed with no wire cutting or boat modification.
The tech specs seem to indicate the system uses bluetooth for communication between the core and wireless sensors. The core module (base unit) communicates with the web portal and call center via GSM cellular technology. Coverage of the monitoring service includes North and South America with the Caribbean as an optional extra. The core also includes GPS for geofencing alerts and boat tracking.
At a retail price of $1250 US for the base package you get the core module along with four sensors to monitor battery voltage, shore power, intrusion motion, and bilge level. Each core supports up to 16 connected sensors. Various packages are available along with an introductory discount of $250 if you buy before the end of August.
Proactive alerts include SMS text, email and then calls from the call center if left unacknowledged. A smartphone App is available for both IOS and Android devices.
